Aruba business opportunities, more often than not, fall in the area of tourism and the resultant construction sector. Drawing a large number of visitors from the United States, Venezuela and the Netherlands, the small but open Aruba economy has seen rapid growth in the preceding decades. Aruba enjoys one of the highest standards of living in the Caribbean region including a low unemployment rate. With such a large part of its economy dependent on tourism (roughly three quarters of GDP), the Aruba government is striving to increase business in other sectors to protect against possible industry slumps. Their current focus is on expanding technology, finance and communications. The size of the agriculture and manufacturing sectors, on the other hand, remain minimal.
